6.TOXICOLOGICAL INFORMATION
Acute Effects:
Eye Contact: Dust may cause eye irritation and dryness
Skin Contact: Exposure to dry material may cause drying of the skin with consequent mild irritation.
Inhalation: Dusts may irritate the nose, throat, and respiratory tract.
Ingestion: Ingestion of large amounts may cause gastrointestinal irritation and blockage.
 
Chronic Effects:
Eye Contact: Exposure to dust may cause inflammation of the cornea.
Skin Contact: Hypersensitive individuals may develop allergic dermatitis.
Inhalation: Inhalation of dust can cause inflammation of the lining of the nose.
 

 
7.EMERGENCY AND FIRST AID MEASURES
Eyes: Immediately flush eyes with plenty of clean water for at least 15 minutes. Contact a physician I irritation persists.
Inhalation: Remove to fresh air. Dust in throat and nasal passages should clear spontaneously. Contact a physician if irritation persists or later develops.
Skin: Wash with cool water and a pH-neutral soap or mild detergent intended for use on skin.
Ingestion: Do not induce vomiting. If person is conscious, give large quantity of water. Get immediate medical attention.
 

 
8.SAFTY HANDLING / STORAGE AND TRANSPORTATION INFORMATION
Handling: Avoid generating dust. Handle with adequate ventilation for dust.
Normal storage: General storage, best in closed containers, ambient air temperature, keep dry.
Transportation: Not a hazardous materials in transportation.
 

 
9.EXPOSURE CONTROL AND PERSONAL PROTECTION
Ventilation: Local exhaust or general ventilation adequate to maintain exposures below appropriate exposure limits.
Other: Exposure levels should be monitored regularly. Exposure levels in excess of appropriate exposure limits should be reduced by all feasible engineering controls.
Skin protection: Protective gloves, shoes and protective clothing that are impervious to water should be worn to avoid contact with skin.
Eye protection: Safety glasses with side shields should be worn as minimum protection. Dust goggles should be worn when excessive (visible) dust conditions are present or anticipated. Contact lenses should not be worn when working with this product.
Hygiene: Periodically wash exposed skin with a pH-neutral soap. Wash again before eating, drinking, smoking and using toilet facilities. Wash work clothes after each use. If clothing becomes saturated with wet material, it should be removed and replaced with clean, dry clothing.
 

 
10.ACCIDENTAL RELEASE AND DISPOSAL CONSIDERATIONS
If Spilled: Collect using methods that minimize creation of airborne dust. High efficiency vacuum clearing is recommended to recover spilled material. Place in suitable container for recycling or disposal.
Personal safety: Observe health and safety precautions.
Waste disposal: Dispose of in accordance with applicable local regulation.
 

 
11.REGULATORY INFORMATION
Some components in Ground Granulated Blast Furnace Slag are considered hazardous according to OSHA and should be included in the employer’s hazard communication program.
