Hammer ® - Ground Granulated Blast Furnace Slag (GGBFS) |
Ground granulated blast furnace slag (GGBFS) is a by-product from iron production in blast furnaces. The blast furnace naturally separates from the iron, then collected and cooled with large amount of cold water. This quenching process leads to transformation of liquid into small sized particles having amorphous particles’ structure. The major use of GGBFS applies to ready-mixed concrete. During the production of ready-mixed concrete, GGBFS replaces about 50% of normal Portland cement content, generally about 50%, but sometimes up to 70%. The higher the proportion, the better is the durability. The disadvantage of the higher replacement level is that early-age strength development is somewhat slower. GGBFS is also used in other forms of concrete, including site-batched and precast. |
Xiamen Bentonite International Corporation (XBIC) is a leading supplier of GGBFS, and our annual output of Hammer ® - GGBFS is nearly 300,000mt, which is produced in conformance with the BS 6699: 1992 and BS EN 15167-1: 2006 specification, and the quality is controlled and monitored throughout the entire production process to ensure that it meets or exceeds the specification requirements. |
